336 PM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

.SHORT TERM...(This evening through Thursday)
Issued at 336 PM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

The surface boundary is located from Geneva to Stockton as of 3pm
this afternoon. Behind the boundary northerly winds are breezy,
while ahead of it, winds are weaker out of the southwest.

Surface high pressure will quickly slide over the area tonight and
southerly winds will return for the day tomorrow. Lows tonight
will be in the upper 30s to low 40s. Highs tomorrow will be in the
mid to upper 70s.

.LONG TERM...(Friday through Wednesday)
Issued at 336 PM CDT Wed Oct 18 2017

Friday - Sunday:
It will be windy on Friday. A trough will approach from the west
Friday, deepening the lee low which will cause the gradient winds
to increase and be gusty throughout the afternoon Friday.
Southerly winds will be sustained around 20-30 mph with gusts
over 35mph. The strongest of the winds will be over north central
Kansas. Highs are expected to be in the mid to upper 70s.

A weak wave will move overhead late Friday night which could
cause some weak showers to develop and impact eastern Nebraska. Do
not expect much in the way of rain, if there is any.

By Saturday morning, a more potent wave will approach from the
west causing a cold front to traverse the area. This front is
expected to move through the forecast area early in the day
Saturday. Winds will be breezy ahead of and behind the front and
temperatures will drop back to near seasonal. There is a chance
for precipitation along and ahead of the cold front on Saturday,
but with the timing of the front moving through early in the day,
think the best chances will be along and east of highway 81.

It`ll be near seasonal for Sunday as surface high pressure slides
south of the area. Highs will be in the 60s.

Monday - Wednesday:
The Central Plains will be under northwest flow during the work
week as an upper trough sits over the eastern half of the country.
Another front pushes through Monday, but is expected to be dry.
Highs will be more seasonal, in the 60s to low 70s for the first
half of the work week with lows in the 30s and 40s.
